Parallel will auction off a single edition non-fungible token (NFT) and donate the earnings to the online learning site Khan Academy.
It’s the first time Khan Academy has benefited from an NFT auction, according to a tweet on Tuesday. The auction will begin at 5 p.m. EST on January 19 and close on January 21.
In the previous year, Macy’s donated a share of their Thanksgiving-themed NFT sales to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, while the NFT initiative Bored Ape Yacht Club donated $850,000 to an orangutan conservation foundation. The pattern looks to be holding till 2022.
According to The Giving Block, a non-profit that helps charities accept bitcoin donations, charities collected over $2.4 million in crypto donations in 2021.
