Ordering a McDonald’s burger and fries in the metaverse may soon be possible in reality.
On February 4, McDonald’s filed ten trademark applications with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for a virtual restaurant that will deliver food both in the metaverse and in real life.
On the one hand, the trademark applications encompass “virtual food and beverage goods,” including NFTs (non-fungible tokens), “running a virtual restaurant online with home delivery,” as well as “online actual and virtual concerts.”
“You are hanging around in the metaverse and feel hungry,” trademark lawyer Josh Gerben tweeted. No need to remove your headset. You go to McDonald’s and order. It arrives later”.
